I am an economist with research interests in the fields of international macroeconomics and finance, (domestic) macroeconomics, and fiscal policy. Most of my recent research has focused on understanding sovereign default crises.

Prior to coming to Notre Dame, I was an Assistant Professor of Economics at McMaster University (in Canada). At Notre Dame I teach macroeconomics at the undergraduate level and international economics at the graduate level. During the 2019-20 AY I visited Princeton University as a Peter B. Kenen Fellow. During the 2021-22 AY I visited the Research Department of the Minneapolis Fed.

In 2016, I was the recipient of the of the John Charles Polanyi Prize for Economics (Government of Ontario).

Since May 2020, I am a Faculty Research Fellow in the NBER’s program on International Finance and Macroeconomics (IFM). Since 2021, I serve as an Associate Editor for the Journal of International Economics and for Oxford Open Economics.

I got my Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Maryland in 2012, and my Licenciatura en Economía at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina) in 2005.
